My Daily Prayers and Readings for 05/13/2012

Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.

Abba Father thank you for the women You put in my life. Their strength, faith and commitment to You and family have guided me through darkness and lit my path back to You. In the name of Christ Jesus who lives within me through the Holy Spirit I pray that You create in me a clean heart, likened to Yours and renew a right spirit within me, for my one walk in and with Jesus. Make me a channel of Your peace and love, standing having girded my waist with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod my feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which I will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. Always asking that You bless me and mine in fulfillment of Your will and keep us from evil and pain; reminding us that if we get nothing else done this day, let us spend it loving You and others first, as You love us. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her:

Abba Father in the name of Christ Jesus who lives within me through the Holy Spirit I pray that You create in me a clean heart, and renew a right spirit within me, for my one walk in and with Jesus. Make me a channel of Your peace and love overcoming myself in and through Christ Jesus. Standing having girded my waist with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod my feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which I will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. Always asking that You bless me and mine in fulfillment of Your will and keep us from evil and pain; reminding us that if we get nothing else done this day, let us spend it loving You and others first, as You love us. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

Make me a channel of Your peace, strengthened by faith, motivated by hope, guided by love. Always standing having girded my waist with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod my feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which I will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. Always asking that You bless me and mine in fulfillment of Your will and keep us from evil and pain; reminding us that if we get nothing else done this day, let us spend it loving You and others first, as You love us. If your brother or sister sins, go and point out their fault, just between the two of you. If they listen to you, you have won them over.

Abba Father there so many social issues that will challenge us beyond our own knowledge and understanding. Cover us in grace to say and do the obedient thing, and in mercy to help us forgive ourselves and others when we or they do not. For I am convinced beyond any other thing that only in Jesus will we find the truth. And that is why in the name of Christ Jesus who lives within me through the Holy Spirit I pray that You create in me a clean heart, and renew a right spirit within me, for my one walk in and with Jesus. Make me a channel of Your peace, capable of uniting not dividing, but always standing having girded my waist with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod my feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which I will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. Always asking that You bless me and mine in fulfillment of Your will and keep us from evil and pain; reminding us that if we get nothing else done this day, let us spend it loving You and others first, as You love us. Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will save it.”

Abba Father help me to keep my eyes on You, my heart tuned to Your Spirit, and to walk in simple obedience. Let me filter all of life through the command to love You and love others. Today I want to lose my life so that I can truly live. In the name of Christ Jesus who lives within me through the Holy Spirit I pray that You create in me a clean heart, and renew a right spirit within me, for my one walk in and with Jesus today. Make me a channel of Your peace, standing having girded my waist with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod my feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which I will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.

Abba Father help me overcome the barriers to worshipping You in prayer and conscious connection in the now of each moment. Overcoming myself, whether pride and a need to find confidence in myself or fear which creates doubt in myself. Help me to release it all to You on conscious presence with You in each moment. Always praying without ceasing in the name of Christ Jesus who lives within me through the Holy Spirit. Create in me a clean heart, and renew a right spirit within me, in each moment for my one walk in and with Jesus. Make me a channel of Your peace, standing having girded my waist with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod my feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which I will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. Abba Father shield my thoughts from discouragement and the temptation to abandon Your path of servant leadership and turn to worldly leadership methods of power and control. You have called me to serve others, following Jesus’ example, even when it is hard. I want to be found walking in Your way. Strengthen my mind with Your Word so that today I can lead like Jesus, in whose Name I pray, that You create in me a clean heart, and renew a right spirit within me, for my one walk in and with Jesus today. Make me a channel of Your peace, standing having girded my waist with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod my feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which I will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.
