Dear God, my Abba Father, Lord Jesus my Savior, Holy Spirit within me.
You know me Lord, as You do each of mine and theirs. I pray that today and this Lenten season each of us will grow in intimacy with You. Closer day by day. Focused on You above all else, especially the chaos and noise of this world.
Thank You for hearing my prayers, for walking with us. Blessing and protecting us. Teaching and guiding us in Your ways.

I lift up those who today will not be able to praise and You because of war and persecution. Especially those You make the ultimate sacrifice and today is the day they come home to You. Welcome them, as I pray for them.

As we prepare for Lent, we are presented with the story of the rich young man. Though the young man was searching for the Kingdom and was following many of the commandments, he was missing one thing: total love of God. This Lent, let us reflect on how we can grow in this one thing!

When a sieve is shaken, the husks appear;
so do one’s faults when one speaks.
As the test of what the potter molds is in the furnace,
so in tribulation is the test of the just.
The fruit of a tree shows the care it has had;
so too does one’s speech disclose the bent of one’s mind.
Praise no one before he speaks,
for it is then that people are tested.

Powerful readings and reflection today Lord. Great preparation for Lent. Once again convicting and showing me the light. The mouth is the mirror of my mind and heart. Left unchecked, the moment my body separates my heart from my soul, dividing my body from spirit. But Your love for me, and my love for You, is the fabric that unites me as one with You. Quenching the sins of my body’s desires and selfishness. Healing the damage to myself and those I love and are affected. Lord keep me in the moment Lord God, help me stay in control of myself.

Beloved:
Is anyone among you suffering?
He should pray.

The prayer of faith will save the sick person,

Do not complain, brothers and sisters, about one another,
that you may not be judged.
Behold, the Judge is standing before the gates.
Take as an example of hardship and patience, brothers and sisters,
the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord.
Indeed we call blessed those who have persevered.
You have heard of the perseverance of Job,
and you have seen the purpose of the Lord,
because the Lord is compassionate and merciful.

But above all, my brothers and sisters, do not swear,

Jesus came into the district of Judea and across the Jordan.
Again crowds gathered around him and, as was his custom,
he again taught them.
The Pharisees approached him and asked,
“Is it lawful for a husband to divorce his wife?”
They were testing him.
He said to them in reply, “What did Moses command you?”
They replied,
“Moses permitted a husband to write a bill of divorce
and dismiss her.”
But Jesus told them,
“Because of the hardness of your hearts
he wrote you this commandment.
But from the beginning of creation, God made them male and female.
For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother
 and be joined to his wife,
 and the two shall become one flesh.
So they are no longer two but one flesh.
Therefore what God has joined together,
no human being must separate.”
In the house the disciples again questioned Jesus about this.
He said to them,
“Whoever divorces his wife and marries another
commits adultery against her;
and if she divorces her husband and marries another,
she commits adultery.”

Formed: A Compassionate God

Today, the Psalmist proclaims that the kindness of the Lord is far vaster than the cosmos. In other words, our sinfulness is never bigger than God’s mercy. This praise is echoed by St. James, who reminds to persevere in our relationship with our compassionate Father.

Dear God, my Abba Father, Lord Jesus my Savior, Holy Spirit within me.
Let Your mercy grow in me! Helping me walk as one with You. Seeing with your eyes, hearing with Your ears, and loving with my heart likened to Yours.
This is my prayer for me, mine and theirs. That Your mercy be in us, fill us and guide us.
Not my will, but Yours Lord God.

“Anyone who gives you a cup of water to drink

it would be better for him if a great millstone
were put around his neck
and he were thrown into the sea.
If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off.
It is better for you to enter into life maimed 
than with two hands to go into Gehenna,
into the unquenchable fire.
And if your foot causes you to sin, cut if off.
It is better for you to enter into life crippled 
than with two feet to be thrown into Gehenna.
And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out.

Formed: The Divine Outlook

The divine perspective teaches us that those who give are truly blessed as today’s readings speak about the dangers of hoarding our wealth. The Scriptures tell us that our money does not go with us to the grave. However, Jesus tells us that what we give does go with us when we die. Consider what you have and what you have given.

What’s wrong with me? Help me!
I seek Your heart. I surround myself in You and Your Word. Yet I over react out of desperation for things I cannot control or change in others. Rather shouldn’t I show patients, self control and bring salt to the situation and moment. Show me the way Lord. Guide me out of my comfort zone by making me thrive in the moment of need of others. Dying to myself and showing them Your presence in me.
Stay closer to me, mine and theirs. Help us stay in the moment with You over everything else.
