My prayer…

Dear God, my Abba Father, Lord Jesus my Savior, Holy Spirit within me. Show me the way out, for I need You now. Free me from my past sins. For I’m lost in my old ways that chase me and attack me out of no where. Making me feel so vulnerable and weak. Teach me how to pray. How to keep walking. To trust You will use all things for good. For I do love You, and need You. Especially now.
I am grateful and thank You for everything, and count every blessing, but feel so lost. Like I keep falling into the same bottomless pit of darkness and hopelessness. Catch me, take my hand Jesus. Pull out of my self pity and place me on the solid ground of my faith and trust in You.
Not my will, but Yours Lord God.

Reading I Romans 8:18-25

Brothers and sisters:
I consider that the sufferings of this present time are as nothing
compared with the glory to be revealed for us.
For creation awaits with eager expectation
the revelation of the children of God;
for creation was made subject to futility,
not of its own accord but because of the one who subjected it,
in hope that creation itself
would be set free from slavery to corruption
and share in the glorious freedom of the children of God.
We know that all creation is groaning in labor pains even until now;
and not only that, but we ourselves,
who have the firstfruits of the Spirit,
we also groan within ourselves
as we wait for adoption, the redemption of our bodies.
For in hope we were saved.
Now hope that sees for itself is not hope.
For who hopes for what one sees?
But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait with endurance.

Jesus said, “What is the Kingdom of God like?
To what can I compare it?

Today, Paul reminds us that we are the "firstfruits" of the new creation. Through the grace of the Holy Spirit, we already participate in the newness that God will bring about. When we experience the full glory of this new creation, all our past suffering will seem like nothing! Let’s wait with patient endurance for that day!

Reading I Romans 8:12-17

Brothers and sisters,
we are not debtors to the flesh,
to live according to the flesh.
For if you live according to the flesh, you will die,
but if by the spirit you put to death the deeds of the body,

For those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.
For you did not receive a spirit of slavery to fall back into fear,
but you received a spirit of adoption,

The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit

Gospel Luke 13:10-17

Jesus was teaching in a synagogue on the sabbath.
And a woman was there who for eighteen years
had been crippled by a spirit;

“Woman, you are set free of your infirmity.”

Formed: The Spirit of Adoption

Echoing the Exodus events, Paul tells the Romans that Christ has broken the shackles of sin and has given us the grace of the Holy Spirit. Through this "spirit of adoption," which is granted in baptism, we become joint heirs of the Kingdom with Christ, provided we unite our suffering with his.

Formed: Spiritual Blindness

God promised the prophet Jeremiah that he would one day liberate his people, including the blind and the lame. Christ’s healing of Bartimaeus’ blindness demonstrates that the Old Testament promises are now being fulfilled—God is here amongst his people! It is now the time to follow Christ, asking him to heal our spiritual blindness!

My prayer…

Dear God, my Abba Father, Lord Jesus my Savior, Holy Spirit within me.
Today’s message speaks loudly to all, especially parents and grandparents. Our eyes are opened, thanks be to Jesus. Spiritually and socially we see, but will we believe our eyes and act. Now is the time to stand up for Jesus and freedom. For it is the evil one that we fight, for he is behind all those that have sold their souls to him for wealth and power. But Jesus has overcome and already won the war, we must just stay focused on Him as we fight the daily battles that challenge us. Pray, Practice, Persevere and Repeat.

Hear our prayers Lord, help us stand firm in our faith with the wisdom to know when and how to act, and courage to do so.
Not our will, but Yours Lord God.
Jesus, Mary, I love You, save souls.
In Jesus name I pray.

Reading I Romans 8:1-11

Brothers and sisters:
Now there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
For the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus
has freed you from the law of sin and death.
For what the law, weakened by the flesh, was powerless to do,
this God has done:
by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh
and for the sake of sin, he condemned sin in the flesh,
so that the righteous decree of the law might be fulfilled in us,
who live not according to the flesh but according to the spirit.
For those who live according to the flesh
are concerned with the things of the flesh,
but those who live according to the spirit
with the things of the spirit.
The concern of the flesh is death,
but the concern of the spirit is life and peace.
For the concern of the flesh is hostility toward God;
it does not submit to the law of God, nor can it;
and those who are in the flesh cannot please God.
But you are not in the flesh;

Formed: The Law of the Spirit

Paul, in his Letter to the Romans, contrasts the flesh and the Spirit. Whereas a life lived according to the flesh falls under the law of sin, Paul explains that Christ gives a new law: the law of the Spirit. With the power of the Holy Spirit, one is able to be obedient to God’s Law, leading to freedom and salvation.

Dear God, my Abba Father, Lord Jesus my Savior, Holy Spirit within me.
Our pursuit of earthly goals is built on lies and will never fulfill us for they are only mind and body… the flesh. Only in and with Jesus are we made whole… complete; mind, body and spirit. Today’s Action Item: Put your mind on the Spirit and not the flesh… is powerful but must be exercised and practiced through one walk with Jesus. So my prayer for me and mine, theirs as well as all those seeking Your face… is for discipline and focus in our practicing of Your presence, and exercising our faith through obedience. Hear my prayer!

I know that good does not dwell in me, that is, in my flesh.
The willing is ready at hand, but doing the good is not.

but sin that dwells in me.
So, then, I discover the principle
that when I want to do right, evil is at hand.

My prayer…

Dear God, my Abba Father, Lord Jesus my Savior, Holy Spirit within me.
In reading today’s readings I can’t help but think how fear is being used to divide us today. We are bombarded by a narrative of hate. So we are tempted to say take him or her not me; and punish those that think or believe differently. Relying on others to interpret for us what we each should do and how to act. Even the Church has been corrupted. All is beyond my understanding. So I find myself repeating Paul’s words over and over ‘Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord.’ And pray without ceasing that He will deliver me from the fear and hate that is consuming so many. And give me a discerning ear and heart to interpret the present times.
Not my will, but Yours Lord God.
Jesus, Mary, I love You, save souls.
In Jesus name I pray.
