Reading I Romans 3:21-30

Brothers and sisters:
Now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law,
though testified to by the law and the prophets,
the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ

all have sinned and are deprived of the glory of God.
They are justified freely by his grace
through the redemption in Christ Jesus,
whom God set forth as an expiation,
through faith, by his Blood, to prove his righteousness
because of the forgiveness of sins previously committed,
through the forbearance of God–
to prove his righteousness in the present time,
that he might be righteous
and justify the one who has faith in Jesus.
What occasion is there then for boasting? It is ruled out.
On what principle, that of works?
No, rather on the principle of faith.
For we consider that a person is justified by faith
apart from works of the law.
Does God belong to Jews alone?
Does he not belong to Gentiles, too?
Yes, also to Gentiles, for God is one
and will justify the circumcised on the basis of faith
and the uncircumcised through faith.

Gospel Luke 11:47-54

The Lord said:
“Woe to you who build the memorials of the prophets
whom your fathers killed.
Consequently, you bear witness and give consent
to the deeds of your ancestors,
for they killed them and you do the building.
Therefore, the wisdom of God said,
‘I will send to them prophets and Apostles;

Formed: Being Stewards of the Gift

Today, in Paul’s Letter to the Romans, we read that it is by Christ’s blood that we are made righteous. In other words, redemption is an unearned grace that the Lord offers mankind through Baptism. However, as the Apostle teaches, this gift of new life must be sustained through good works.

My prayer…

Dear God, my Abba Father, Lord Jesus my Savior, Holy Spirit within me. I trust in You. For You are truth to me, and in You I am made whole. I am redeemed. To experience and know this truth is to want it for each of mine and theirs. So I pray without ceasing for each one of them. That they learn not just to believe, but to trust and walk with You. To have an intimate relationship with You. To experience the feeling of completeness in You.
For within the busyness of this world, and the temptations of the evil one, lay only loneliness and fear. Separation from You.
So we must exercise our faith by practicing Your presence. And we practice through good works. Help us practice. Help us make time for You. Forgive us, when we don’t. And always remind us we are only home and complete with You.
Not our will, but Yours Lord God.
Jesus, Mary, I love You, save souls.

For by the standard by which you judge another you condemn yourself,
since you, the judge, do the very same things.
We know that the judgment of God on those who do such things is true.
Do you suppose, then, you who judge those who engage in such things
and yet do them yourself,
that you will escape the judgment of God?
Or do you hold his priceless kindness, forbearance, and patience
in low esteem, unaware that the kindness of God
would lead you to repentance?
By your stubbornness and impenitent heart,
you are storing up wrath for yourself
for the day of wrath and revelation
of the just judgment of God,
who will repay everyone according to his works,
eternal life to those who seek glory, honor, and immortality
through perseverance in good works,

Yes, affliction and distress will come upon everyone

Today St. Paul and our Lord Jesus us reminds and tells us of the importance of staying united in Christ. For He alone is our judge, and will judge us accordingly. Therefore we must keep our eyes on Him, and liken our hearts to His. Avoid judging others, and instead pray for them to see the errors in their ways.
Thank You for awakening me and showing me. For helping me stay focused on You. For blessing me with each of mine, and theirs. For walking with us, blessing and protecting us. Teaching us, and keeping us united in You.

Reading I Romans 1:16-25

Brothers and sisters:
I am not ashamed of the Gospel.
It is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes:
for Jew first, and then Greek.
For in it is revealed the righteousness of God from faith to faith;
as it is written, “The one who is righteous by faith will live.”
The wrath of God is indeed being revealed from heaven
against every impiety and wickedness
of those who suppress the truth by their wickedness.
For what can be known about God is evident to them,
because God made it evident to them.
Ever since the creation of the world,
his invisible attributes of eternal power and divinity
have been able to be understood and perceived in what he has made.
As a result, they have no excuse;
for although they knew God
they did not accord him glory as God or give him thanks.
Instead, they became vain in their reasoning,
and their senseless minds were darkened.
While claiming to be wise, they became fools
and exchanged the glory of the immortal God
for the likeness of an image of mortal man
or of birds or of four-legged animals or of snakes.

As Paul reminds us, justice toward God is the source of justice toward our neighbors. When we seek the love of the Lord, it overflows toward those around us. Without proper worship, we therefore open ourselves up to wickedness, becoming consumed by passions. With this in mind, let us always keep God at the center of our lives!

Reading I Wisdom 7:7-11

I prayed, and prudence was given me;
I pleaded, and the spirit of wisdom came to me.
I preferred her to scepter and throne,
and deemed riches nothing in comparison with her,

and before her, silver is to be accounted mire.
Beyond health and comeliness I loved her,

"Then who can be saved?"
Jesus looked at them and said,
"For human beings it is impossible, but not for God.
All things are possible for God."
Peter began to say to him,
"We have given up everything and followed you."

there is no one who has given up house or brothers or sisters
or mother or father or children or lands
for my sake and for the sake of the gospel
who will not receive a hundred times more now in this present age:

Formed: At the Manger and the Cross

The woman of today’s Gospel reading proclaims the blessedness of Christ’s mother. In reply, Jesus says that blessedness is truly found in those who follow the word of God. This does not demote Mary; rather, it elevates her. As seen at the Annunciation, she is the model of responding to God! Let us pray for this Marian readiness!

Dear God, my Abba Father, Lord Jesus my Savior, Holy Spirit within me. What Mary did out of instinct, we learn to do through Her and our relationship with Jesus. That is to listen and obey. Help us to be better listeners and disciplined obedient followers of Christ Jesus.
Thank You for Your grace and mercy that guides us through this learning process. You teach us through so many ways. Starting with the blessing of family and friends. Help us to stay in Your Word and apply it to our one walk with Jesus.

And if Satan is divided against himself, how will his kingdom stand?
For you say that it is by Beelzebul that I drive out demons.
If I, then, drive out demons by Beelzebul,
by whom do your own people drive them out?
Therefore they will be your judges.
But if it is by the finger of God that I drive out demons,
then the Kingdom of God has come upon you.
When a strong man fully armed guards his palace,
his possessions are safe.
But when one stronger than he attacks and overcomes him,
he takes away the armor on which he relied
and distributes the spoils.
Whoever is not with me is against me,
and whoever does not gather with me scatters.
“When an unclean spirit goes out of someone,
it roams through arid regions searching for rest
but, finding none, it says,
‘I shall return to my home from which I came.’
But upon returning, it finds it swept clean and put in order.
Then it goes and brings back seven other spirits
more wicked than itself who move in and dwell there,

Help us Lord… to see with discerning eye, hear with a discerning ear, and forgive with a discerning heart. For we so need to be wary of division in the Church. In all aspects of our walk with Jesus, our family and country. For evil one uses what may seem insignificant like music, traditions and the way we each chose to practice our faith to divide us. We must pray, train and conquer all petty differences by uniting in Christ. And repeat each day. Help us to do so!
Thank You for loving us so much. For all Your blessings. For each of mine and theirs. Continue to bless and protect us.
Not my will, but Yours Lord God.
