A thought…
I find my hope, in my faith and my faith in my love of the Lord Jesus. I hope my walk from believer to follower will lead to disciple. But I know this above all. Jesus is my truth, my way. The only truth, the only way. And if one walks believing this, He is always with us. And we have reason to hope.

“I will never…forsake you.” Sometimes it is not the difficulty of life but the drudgery of it that makes me think God will forsake me. When there is no major difficulty to overcome, no vision from God, nothing wonderful or beautiful— just the everyday activities of life— do I hear God’s assurance even in these?

Dear God, Abba Father, Jesus my Lord and Savior help to always walk with hope. Teach me to practice Your presence in everything I do today. Amen

Walking in Submission

OneWalk: Under the Sun, with the Son

A thought…
Yesterday morning accelerated out of control as did the night before without my knowing why. Then on the way to pick up my crew, I noticed the truck was accelerating without my foot pressing down on the accelerator. Fortunately (thank You Jesus) I was able to calmly figure out how to stop this from happening. I still need to look into why. However, I can say I do know why Friday night and yesterday morning accelerated out of control. I disconnected from Jesus losing my balance by failing to submit. Once again thanks to Jesus, I was able to calmly figure this out and bring the day back into balance by submitting myself to Him. Now I just need to work on doing this more often.

The wonderful thing about God is that he partners with us in this life to fulfill his will. He doesn’t just give orders like a taskmaster and then leave us to our own devices to juggle it all—God remains deeply engaged in every aspect of our lives, hoping that we will learn to trust him. This means checking with God on a secondly basis for the proper response to each day’s interactions. This means allowing the Holy Spirit to schedule your day, and intentionally focusing your attention on what God deems the priority for that moment. When we align with God, and truly consider all that we have to be his, then it releases us from the burden of trying to be God through self-determination. The question is not one of balance,but rather one of submission and obedience to God’s sovereignty in every second of our lives.

A prayer…
Dear God, Abba Father, Jesus my Lord and Savior, I know You walk with me. You know me. You know my thoughts, hear my words, see my every expression and action. You know I sometimes let the busyness of life make fellowship with you seem elusive. I disconnect and struggle to balance my work, family, friendships, responsibilities, and most of all my relationship with you. Teach me how to stay connected and submit all things under your Lordship as I pursue to live balanced life on your terms. So everyone will see and know I am in You and You are in me. Amen.

Walking in Obsession

A thought…
Do you ever feel like your surrounded by inconsiderate, selfish, narcissist? It’s like when you were a kid playing in the pool, trying to see who could swim the farthest under water. Has you ran out of breath, the more you felt like you were going to explode. You knew you could quit anytime and release that feeling with a breath of air. Just come up and breathe, the only thing holding under was your will to win. So you swam a little further. At that moment, whose the narcissist?

Walking under the sun without a conscious connection to Jesus, is like swimming under water. Are you focused on yourself or Jesus. Being focused on Jesus is the only way you can always be there for others. You have to be willing to lose or die to yourself if you are to be used by Him for others.

A thought…
I’m sure age has something to do with it, but I cannot deny the changes in me and my walk. I’ll always remember the comment of a colleague when I first started openly talking about and explaining OneWalk. He attributed my growing faith, awareness of God and desire to seek Him to my getting older. I was fifty then. I should have questioned him about why and what he meant, but I didn’t. I presume he meant, as we near or move in to the later part (third) of our life’s what I was experiencing was a natural phase. A phase?

No, I knew it was a way! A way of life. A way into eternity. Sure age changes you in many ways, but I knew, Jesus was changing me in ways I didn’t even understand yet and still don’t. At that time, and still one of my favorite Bible verses was ‘a man after God’s own heart’ (Samuel 13:14, Acts 13:22).

That’s all I want, to be “a man after God’s own heart”. My seeking had begun, and continues. So now all I do is seek to surround myself and those with me, with Jesus. His truth, His Words and His love.

A thought…
It’s tough and it doesn’t get any easier. We need to have patience with ourselves, knowing “God is not finished with me yet.”
As today’s devotion states… Our transformation will not happen overnight; it will take a lifetime of God-forming and God-shaping to become like His son. But His promise remains: “He will keep you strong to the end so that you will be free from all blame on the day when our Lord Jesus Christ returns.” (1 Corinthians 1:8)

A verse…

“Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will continue to do God’s will. Then you will receive all that he has promised.” Hebrews 10:36 (NLT)

O God, Abba Father, Jesus my Lord and Savior, I know You’re not finished with me yet. You can’t be. I’m reminded of this far to often throughout each day. The cycle of hope that I will reflect Your image and presence in me, followed by the reality of disappointment and regret when I don’t. So all I can do is keep praying, keep coming back to the foot of the Cross, and dying to myself. Rising with and in You, until that final rise when I will truly be with You. So keep be humble, hopeful and happy in this truth. Amen

A thought…

This mornings Yogi tea quote ‘Love is an experience of infinity’ made me think about the pure feeling love brings me. The love for my mom, dad and grandparents, brother, sisters and cousin, the love for my wife, children and grandchildren; and most of all the love I have for Jesus Christ. It truly is an experience of infinity, never ending and unconditional with the power to change and transform. Maybe that’s why Jesus commands us to put love for God and others above all else.

Walking with Pride or Confidence?

A thought…
“I think to many of us mistake pride for confidence. We all need more confidence and less pride. Confidence comes from our relationship with Jesus, pride is what the devil uses to separate us from Jesus and that relationship as well as others.”

A few verses…

1 John 2:16 NLT
For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world.

Hebrews 13:6 NLT
So we can say with confidence, “The LORD is my helper, so I will have no fear. What can mere people do to me?”

The prideful person

never says they’re wrong.

doesn’t accept input, but goes at everything alone. They makes decisions in a vacuum.

craves public and/or private recognition for the works they’ve done.
