My Daily Prayers and Readings for 01/12/2010

Abba Father, Lord Jesus, I come to You seeking One Walk in Your presence in the Spirit, as one Lord God the Abba Father, the Christ Son and the Holy Spirit. Knowing that in Your presence I am free from myself and the hand of others who like me are vulnerable under the sun when not in the presence of the Son. His living Presence is my companion each step of the way. I try to stay in continual communication with Him, whispering His Name whenever I need to redirect your thoughts. I look and pray to walk through this day with my focus on Him and His ways. His abiding Presence is all I need and keeps me prepared for whatever may come or cross my path. In His presence I know me and mine will not grow anxiousness.
I know if we remain in Him, He will remain in us. For no branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can we bear fruit unless we remain in Him. You are the vine; we are the branches. If we remain in You in Him, we will bear much fruit; apart from You without Him we can do nothing.
I know if we remain in You with Him and Your words remain in us, we can ask whatever we wish, and it will be given us in line with Your will.
So I pray that I will remain in Your presence, for You are always present through Him in me. Practicing and perfecting my faith, hope and love in Your presence, One Walk in all things to honor and praise You always asking that Your light and work within me be visible to others; asking that You guide and direct my work for Your good and the good of others.
In Jesus name I ask and pray, that You bless me and mine for fulfillment of Your will and that You create in me a clean heart, renew a right spirit within me, in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Today – LET ME PREPARE YOU for the day that stretches out before you. I know exactly what this day will contain, whereas you have only vague ideas about it. You would like to see a map, showing all the twists and turns of your journey. You’d feel more prepared if you could somehow visualize what is on the road ahead. However, there is a better way to be prepared for whatever you will encounter today: Spend quality time with Me.
I will not show you what is on the road ahead, but I will thoroughly equip you for the journey. My living Presence is your Companion each step of the way. Stay in continual communication with Me, whispering My Name whenever you need to redirect your thoughts. Thus, you can walk through this day with your focus on Me. My abiding Presence is the best road map available.

Reading I
1 Sm 1:9-20
Hannah rose after a meal at Shiloh,
and presented herself before the LORD;
at the time, Eli the priest was sitting on a chair
near the doorpost of the LORD’s temple.
In her bitterness she prayed to the LORD, weeping copiously,
and she made a vow, promising: “O LORD of hosts,
if you look with pity on the misery of your handmaid,
if you remember me and do not forget me,
if you give your handmaid a male child,
I will give him to the LORD for as long as he lives;
neither wine nor liquor shall he drink,
and no razor shall ever touch his head.”
As she remained long at prayer before the LORD,
Eli watched her mouth, for Hannah was praying silently;
though her lips were moving, her voice could not be heard.
Eli, thinking her drunk, said to her,
“How long will you make a drunken show of yourself?
Sober up from your wine!”
“It isn’t that, my lord,” Hannah answered.
“I am an unhappy woman.
I have had neither wine nor liquor;
I was only pouring out my troubles to the LORD.
Do not think your handmaid a ne’er-do-well;
my prayer has been prompted by my deep sorrow and misery.”
Eli said, “Go in peace,
and may the God of Israel grant you what you have asked of him.”
She replied, “Think kindly of your maidservant,” and left.
She went to her quarters, ate and drank with her husband,
and no longer appeared downcast.
Early the next morning they worshiped before the LORD,
and then returned to their home in Ramah.
When Elkanah had relations with his wife Hannah,
the LORD remembered her.
She conceived, and at the end of her term bore a son
whom she called Samuel, since she had asked the LORD for him.

Gospel
Mk 1:21-28
Jesus came to Capernaum with his followers,
and on the Sabbath he entered the synagogue and taught.
The people were astonished at his teaching,
for he taught them as one having authority and not as the scribes.
In their synagogue was a man with an unclean spirit;
he cried out, “What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth?
Have you come to destroy us?
I know who you are–the Holy One of God!”
Jesus rebuked him and said, “Quiet! Come out of him!”
The unclean spirit convulsed him and with a loud cry came out of him.
All were amazed and asked one another,
“What is this?
A new teaching with authority.
He commands even the unclean spirits and they obey him.”
His fame spread everywhere throughout the whole region of Galilee.
