My Daily Prayers and Readings for 05/27/2010

< >< My Prayer >< >

Abba Father, Lord Jesus, in the Spirit, one God the Abba Father, Christ Jesus the Son and the Holy Spirit create in me a clean heart, renew a right spirit within me, for one walk in and with Jesus.

Today’s devotion and readings cause me to think more about my one walk and how well You know when I need to feel You versus when I want to feel You, for I feel Your touch me when I need You and sooner or later I always feel You teaching me though differently each time I want You. While there is much I do not understand and more I do not know, I feel and understand this – You will make sure I have what I need for today, but not always what I may want. And how I handle this is up to me, and how much I am willing to open myself up to You in these teaching moments, for if I chose to allow You will always create in me a clean heart, renew a right spirit within me, revealing another truth or secret of Your wisdom.

So I must walk consciously in the now, aware that as You become more visible in me to others, that they will speak of me and observe my works. So I must practice consciousness in the now letting there be more of You and less of me, so the Spirit will control my every thought, word and act, while keeping me from the evil prideful and selfish pit, by being humbled in the thought that has my Lord Jesus was rejected by human beings so too I will be rejected as You become more visible in me. I must not allow joy of any moment or joy of feeling Your hand upon me and Spirit within me, cause me to speak or act aloud, but instead remain humble, compassionate, kind, gentle and patient in all things and ways through one walk with eyes and ears of faith, giving away all I receive through Your grace, mercy and love.

This I pray in Jesus name, asking that You bless me and mine for fulfillment of Your will; in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

May – “Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness.” Psalm 29:2

Today – SEEK MY FACE at the beginning of your day. This practice enables you to “put Me on” and “wear Me” throughout the day. Most people put on clothes soon after arising from bed. Similarly, the sooner you “put Me on” by communicating with Me, the better prepared you are for whatever comes your way.

To “wear Me” is essentially to have My mind: to think My thoughts. Ask the Holy Spirit to control your thinking; be transformed by this renewal within you. Thus you are well equipped to face whatever people and situations I bring your way. Clothing your mind in Me is your best preparation for each day. This discipline brings Joy and Peace to you and those around you.

PSALM 27:8 (NKJV), ROMANS 13:14, COLOSSIANS 3:12

Reading 1 1 Pt 2:2-5, 9-12

Beloved:

Like newborn infants, long for pure spiritual milk

so that through it you may grow into salvation,

for you have tasted that the Lord is good.

Come to him, a living stone, rejected by human beings

but chosen and precious in the sight of God,

and, like living stones,

let yourselves be built into a spiritual house

to be a holy priesthood to offer spiritual sacrifices

acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

You are a chosen race, a royal priesthood,

a holy nation, a people of his own,

so that you may announce the praises of him

who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

Once you were no people

but now you are God’s people;

you had not received mercy

but now you have received mercy.

Beloved, I urge you as aliens and sojourners

to keep away from worldly desires that wage war against the soul.

Maintain good conduct among the Gentiles,

so that if they speak of you as evildoers,

they may observe your good works

and glorify God on the day of visitation.

Responsorial Psalm Ps 100: 2, 3, 4, 5

R.          (2c)  Come with joy into the presence of the Lord.

Sing joyfully to the LORD, all you lands;

serve the LORD with gladness;

come before him with joyful song.

R.          Come with joy into the presence of the Lord.

Know that the LORD is God;

he made us, his we are;

his people, the flock he tends.

R.          Come with joy into the presence of the Lord.

Enter his gates with thanksgiving,

his courts with praise;

Give thanks to him;

bless his name.

R.          Come with joy into the presence of the Lord.

The LORD is good:

his kindness endures forever,

and his faithfulness, to all generations.

R.          Come with joy into the presence of the Lord.

Gospel Mk 10:46-52

As Jesus was leaving Jericho with his disciples and a sizable crowd,
Bartimaeus, a blind man, the son of Timaeus,
sat by the roadside begging.
On hearing that it was Jesus of Nazareth,
he began to cry out and say,
“Jesus, son of David, have pity on me.”
And many rebuked him, telling him to be silent.
But he kept calling out all the more, “Son of David, have pity on me.”
Jesus stopped and said, “Call him.”
So they called the blind man, saying to him,
“Take courage; get up, Jesus is calling you.”
He threw aside his cloak, sprang up, and came to Jesus.
Jesus said to him in reply, “What do you want me to do for you?”
The blind man replied to him, “Master, I want to see.”
Jesus told him, “Go your way; your faith has saved you.”
Immediately he received his sight
and followed him on the way.
