My Daily Prayers and Readings for 11/09/2012
We were all baptized by one Spirit into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, slave or freed.

Abba Father in today’s verse reading1 ‘Paul urges his readers to remember where they came from in our passage. But in this case he is not pointing to the valuable lessons they learned from their family background; rather, he is reminding them of their prospects prior to experiencing the grace of Christ.’2 I come to You in the name of Jesus Christ who lives within me through the Holy Spirit so that You can create in me a pure heart, and renew a steadfast spirit within me, reminding me of where I am vs. where I was but for Your grace and mercy and to prepare me for my one walk in and with You. Just like the example in today’s ‘In The Word Devotion’2 we all need to be reminded each day as we step out and start the day that we are more than what we have become under the sun, based family background, experiences, profession and political affiliation. We are believers in Jesus Christ and the only decision we have before us is will we be followers. For to be follower we must open ourselves up to be shown and taught how to be channels of Your peace and love in all situations with all people. We must stand having girded our waist with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod our feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which we will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one who only seeks to separate us, first from You, then each other. So I pray today for oneness, oneness with You, oneness through Jesus Christ and as a nation under You. I pray that You continue to bless me and mine in fulfillment of Your will, and keep us from evil and pain; reminding us that if we get nothing else done this day, let us spend it loving You and others first, as You love us. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.
