Today’s prayer
Dear Lord God, Abba Father, as I seek to understand Your loving discipline, I want to “consider him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that [I] may not grow weary or fainthearted” (Hebrews 12:3).Your Son experienced both the highs and lows of the entire human experience without complaint, for Your glory. How can I claim to be Your child and expect anything less from Your wise and loving hand? Teach me to trust Your sovereign will, and lean into whatever You allow in my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Jesus’ Trial before Pilate

John 18:36-37 NLT
[36] Jesus answered, "My Kingdom is not an earthly kingdom. If it were, my followers would fight to keep me from being handed over to the Jewish leaders. But my Kingdom is not of this world."
[37] Pilate said, "So you are a king?" Jesus responded, "You say I am a king. Actually, I was born and came into the world to testify to the truth. All who love the truth recognize that what I say is true."

WALK BY FAITH, NOT BY SIGHT. As you take steps of faith, depending on Me, I will show you how much I can do for you. If you live your life too safely, you will never know the thrill of seeing Me work through you. When I gave you My Spirit, I empowered you to live beyond your natural ability and strength. That’s why it is so wrong to measure your energy level against the challenges ahead of you. The issue is not your strength but Mine, which is limitless. By walking close to Me, you can accomplish My purposes in My strength.

Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.
—Galatians 5:25

But I will sing of your strength, in the morning I will sing of your love; for you are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble. O my Strength, I sing praise to you; you, O God, are my fortress, my loving God.

Fighting to stay focused on You in the now of the moment, dying to myself and letting tomorrow worry about itself. Grateful for all Your blessings and counting them one by one. You are my fortress, my refuge, my strength. Your Words are the words of life that sustain me. The truth that guides me. Washes His Disciples’ Feet

John 13:12-17 NLT
[12] After washing their feet, he put on his robe again and sat down and asked, "Do you understand what I was doing? [13] You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and you are right, because that’s what I am. [14] And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. [15] I have given you an example to follow. Do as I have done to you. [16] I tell you the truth, slaves are not greater than their master. Nor is the messenger more important than the one who sends the message. [17] Now that you know these things, God will bless you for doing them.

Turning Back or Walking with Jesus?

Today’s verse

John 6:67-69 NLT
[67] Then Jesus turned to the Twelve and asked, "Are you also going to leave?" [68] Simon Peter replied, "Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words that give eternal life. [69] We believe, and we know you are the Holy One of God."

John 12:37,39-40 NLT
[37] But despite all the miraculous signs Jesus had done, most of the people still did not believe in him… [39] But the people couldn’t believe, for as Isaiah also said, [40] "The Lord has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts- so that their eyes cannot see, and their hearts cannot understand, and they cannot turn to me and have me heal them."

John 12:46-48 NLT
[46] I have come as a light to shine in this dark world, so that all who put their trust in me will no longer remain in the dark. [47] I will not judge those who hear me but don’t obey me, for I have come to save the world and not to judge it. [48] But all who reject me and my message will be judged on the day of judgment by the truth I have spoken.

Dear Lord God, Abba Father, there is so much I don’t understand. I see so many searching and seeking to find their identify with You, but in new (old) ways. They use religion as an reason or excuse for defining their beliefs (relationship with You). Rejecting Jesus or redefining Him to rationalize choosing not to follow Him. Just like in today’s verse. There so much I don’t understand. How could they have walked with Jesus, seen His works and walk away. The road is narrow, and we will have challenges and heart ache. You know how long it took me to move from believer to follower. O Lord that You would use me in some way to be a light to the truth in Jesus. To open one heart. Amen

[10] “Then I will pour out a spirit b of grace and prayer on the family of David and on the people of Jerusalem. They will look on me whom they have pierced and mourn for him as for an only son. They will grieve bitterly for him as for a firstborn son who has died. …

SAVE YOUR BEST STRIVING FOR SEEKING MY FACE. I am constantly communicating with you. To find Me and hear My voice, you must seek Me above all else. Anything that you desire more than Me becomes an idol. When you are determined to get your own way, you blot Me out of your consciousness. Instead of single-mindedly pursuing some goal, talk with Me about it. Let the Light of My Presence shine on this pursuit so that you can see it from My perspective. If the goal fits into My plans for you, I will help you reach it. If it is contrary to My will for you, I will gradually change the desire of your heart. Seek Mefirst and foremost; then the rest of your life will fall into place, piece by piece.

Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always.

REFRAMING JESUS

PSALM 22—A PROMISE IN PAIN

As you read this psalm, remember the gritty details of the crucifixion, recorded a thousand years before it happened: Jesus was thirsty, his hands and feet were pierced, his bones were not broken, and the soldiers gambled for his clothing. The prophetic description of Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross is obvious.

Look at verse 1—Jesus says this very statement on the cross. He clearly knows this prophecy and speaks it as it comes to pass (Matthew 27:46). But Jesus’ declaration is not a sign of doubting the Father when he says, “Why have you abandoned me?” Those nearby who heard him would’ve immediately recognized that Jesus was quoting a familiar psalm. He was uttering words the Jews in the crowd would have known by heart. And during Jesus’ time, the psalms were titled by their first lines, not by the numbers we use today. His cry on the cross draws our attention to the entire psalm—not just the message in the first line. Read Psalm 22 to the end and see the promise it holds.

David probably didn’t know what his own deeply personal cry for help in this psalm was going to become. But it shows us that God not only hears our cries for help, but he can also use them. Jesus is not offended by our pleas, by our recognition of our weaknesses, or by our raw expression of fear or need. Instead, he takes our cries onto himself and expresses them to his Father.
