OneWalk: Under the Sun, with the Son

Today’s Bible Verse, Reading, Devotion, Worship Song and Prayer

Today’s verse

Here is another illustration of what the Kingdom of God is like: A farmer planted seeds in a field, and then he went on with his other activities. As the days went by, the seeds sprouted and grew without the farmer’s help, because the earth produces crops on its own. Mark 4:26-28

Today’s reading
Mark 4
https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Mark+4&version=NLT

WHAT IS THE MEANING OF LIFE?

The parable of the farmer scattering seed is one of the best-known of Jesus’ teaching parables. Jesus told parables for two reasons: (1) to help us understand the heart of God; and (2) to help us understand how things work in the Kingdom of God. In this parable, he is describing the true meaning of our life: to cultivate a heart that is receptive to hearing and accepting the redemptive message of Jesus’ death and resurrection, then to live a life that produces a huge harvest that can “feed” a multitude. Our lives are intended to be a source of life-giving “nutrition” for everyone around us, and the only way we can produce that kind of fruit is to provide good soil for the “seeds” God wants to plant in us. The meaning of our life, according to Jesus, is to do whatever it takes to continually offer him “fertile soil”—to give ourselves to understanding him and his kingdom, to continuously deepen our soul by pursuing the truth about ourselves and about God, and to set aside our worries and our material ambitions so that we trust God above all.

Today’s prayer
Dear God, Abba Father, Jesus my Lord and Savior. Knowing my limitations and trusting in what only You can do is key to my OneWalk with You. I must put on the full armor You provide me and stay focused on You. Praying without ceasing for me and mine, as well as those You place in my path. Help me Jesus be ready, willing and able to respond to the needs of others. Dying to myself. These things I ask in Jesus name. Amen

The Light That Never Fails

April 22, 2018

OneWalk: Under the Sun, with the Son

Today’s Bible Verse, Reading, Devotion, Worship Song and Prayer

Today’s verse

And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit. 2 Corinthians 3:18 (NIV)

Today’s reading
2 Corinthians 3
https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=2%20Corinthians+3&version=NIV&interface=amp

2 Corinthians 3:4-6 NLT
[4] We are confident of all this because of our great trust in God through Christ. [5] It is not that we think we are qualified to do anything on our own. Our qualification comes from God. [6] He has enabled us to be ministers of his new covenant. This is a covenant not of written laws, but of the Spirit. The old written covenant ends in death; but under the new covenant, the Spirit gives life.

The Light That Never Fails

My Utmost for His Highest
https://utmost.org/the-light-that-never-fails

We must build our faith not on fading lights but on the Light that never fails. When “important” individuals go away we are sad, until we see that they are meant to go, so that only one thing is left for us to do— to look into the face of God for ourselves.

Allow nothing to keep you from looking with strong determination into the face of God regarding yourself and your doctrine.

Dear God, Abba Father, Jesus my Lord and Savior. You are the light that never fails. You are the way and the life. So I fight to build my faith only on You. Knowing that it must be Your will, not mine. I must have more of You and less of me. For my confidence is in You, my truth. And I am at my best when You are flowing through me and we are one. How natural that feeling is. But how fragile it is. It’s so easy for lose focus and disconnect. Often without even realizing it. Help me Jesus. I love You, I’m sorry, forgive me, thank You. Amen

Never forget that our capacity and capability in spiritual matters…, and based on, the promises of God.

April 22, 2018

OneWalk: Under the Sun, with the Son

Today’s Bible Verse, Reading, Devotion, Worship Song and Prayer

Today’s verse

All the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen… 2 Corinthians 1:20

Today’s reading
2 Corinthians 1
https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=2+Corinthians+1&version=NLT

It is God who enables us, along with you, to stand firm for Christ. He has commissioned us, and he has identified us as his own by placing the Holy Spirit in our hearts as the first installment that guarantees everything he has promised us.
2 Corinthians 1:21-22 NLT

Today’s devotion
Can a Saint Falsely Accuse God?

My Utmost for His Highest
https://utmost.org/can-a-saint-falsely-accuse-god/

Jesus’ parable of the talents recorded in Matthew 25:14-30 was a warning that it is possible for us to misjudge our capacities. This parable has nothing to do with natural gifts and abilities, but relates to the gift of the Holy Spirit as He was first given at Pentecost. We must never measure our spiritual capacity on the basis of our education or our intellect; our capacity in spiritual things is measured on the basis of the promises of God. If we get less than God wants us to have, we will falsely accuse Him as the servant falsely accused his master when he said, “You expect more of me than you gave me the power to do. You demand too much of me, and I cannot stand true to you here where you have placed me.” When it is a question of God’s Almighty Spirit, never say, “I can’t.” Never allow the limitation of your own natural ability to enter into the matter. If we have received the Holy Spirit, God expects the work of the Holy Spirit to be exhibited in us.

The servant justified himself, while condemning his lord on every point, as if to say, “Your demand on me is way out of proportion to what you gave to me.” Have we been falsely accusing God by daring to worry after He has said, “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you”? (Matthew 6:33). Worrying means exactly what this servant implied— “I know your intent is to leave me unprotected and vulnerable.” A person who is lazy in the natural realm is always critical, saying, “I haven’t had a decent chance,” and someone who is lazy in the spiritual realm is critical of God. Lazy people always strike out at others in an independent way.

Never forget that our capacity and capability in spiritual matters is measured by, and based on, the promises of God. Is God able to fulfill His promises? Our answer depends on whether or not we have received the Holy Spirit.

Today’s prayer
Dear God, Abba Father, Jesus my Lord and Savior all my hope is in You. I know that because I have not lived up to my spiritual capacities and capabilities, I misused my gifts. As a result I have not lived up to my potential in the natural realm. But I push forward in and with my Lord Jesus Christ, knowing that You use all things for good. So I fight to stay connected to You, with an open heart and mind. Seeking Your will, not mine. Asking that You continue to bless me and mine, enlarging our territory for Your will, keeping us from evil and from causing any pain. Amen

Keep your eyes open for GOD, watch for his works; be alert for signs of his presence.” If we’re seeking God, then we are watching for him and his work each day as we go about our business. We pay attention to him from the moment we wake to the moment we close our eyes at night. We don’t look for God only in so-called “sacred” spaces, but equally in so-called “secular” places. God is present and active everywhere. We are invited to discern his presence and activity wherever we are.

And through your faith, God is protecting you…

April 19, 2018

OneWalk: Under the Sun, with the Son

Today’s Bible Verse, Reading, Devotion, Worship Song and Prayer

Today’s verse

And through your faith, God is protecting you by his power until you receive this salvation, which is ready to be revealed on the last day for all to see. 1 Peter 1:5 NLT

Today’s reading
Hebrews 11
https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Hebrews+11&version=NLT

It is by faith that…

FAITH GIVES US THE STRENGTH TO JUMP, AND TRUST

It’s hard to step into the unknown and trust that your provision will come. We live like children at a playground who’ve climbed so high that we’re unable to climb down, but we’re not quite confident that our parent’s arms will catch us if we jump. The writer of Hebrews offers reassurance from our spiritual ancestors, who also struggled to trust God’s provision. Noah built a boat amid the ridicule of his neighbors, uncertain if the rains would come. Abraham was called to move, before a GPS could assure him of his destination. In example after example, our ancestors stepped out in faith and into hard callings—in every circumstance, God’s provision was there to “catch” them. The passage is also a promise for each of us—we can rest in confidence that a God who has been faithful in the past, and who has given us love and blessing beyond measure in the person of Jesus, will catch every child who’s willing to make the jump.

So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God.

April 18, 2018

OneWalk: Under the Sun, with the Son

Today’s Bible Verse, Reading, Devotion, Worship Song and Prayer

Today’s verse

So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most. Hebrews 4:16 NLT

Today’s reading
Hebrews 4
https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Hebrews+4&version=NLT

Today’s devotion
Jesus Calling

PEACE IS MY CONTINUAL GIFT TO YOU. It flows abundantly from My throne of grace. Just as the Israelites could not store up manna for the future but had to gather it daily, so it is with My Peace. The day-by-day collecting of manna kept My people aware of their dependence on Me. Similarly, I give you sufficient Peace for the present when you come to me by prayer and petition with thanksgiving. If I gave you permanent Peace, independent of My Presence, you might fall into the trap of self-sufficiency. May that never be!

I have designed you to need Me moment by moment. As your awareness of your neediness increases, so does your realization of My abundant sufficiency. I can meet every one of your needs without draining My resources at all. Approach My throne of grace with bold confidence, receiving My Peace with a thankful heart.

Moses said to them, “It is the bread the Lord has given you to eat. This is what the Lord has commanded: ‘Each one is to gather as much as he needs.’ . . . No one is to keep any of it until morning.”
—Exodus 16:15–16, 19

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. . . . And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.
—Philippians 4:6–7, 19

Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
—Hebrews 4:16

Jesus Calling

I AM TRAINING YOU IN STEADINESS. Too many things interrupt your awareness of Me. I know that you live in a world of sight and sound, but you must not be a slave to those stimuli. Awareness of Me can continue in all circumstances, no matter what happens. This is the steadiness I desire for you.

Don’t let unexpected events throw you off course. Rather, respond calmly and confidently, remembering that I am with you. As soon as something grabs your attention, talk with Me about it. Thus I share your joys and your problems; I help you cope with whatever is before you. This is how I live in you and work through you. This is the way of Peace.

He will have no fear of bad news; his heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord.
